Krauss Maffei‘s all electric EX Injection Moulders designed for the mass production of sterile medical goods.

Krauss Maffei of Munich Germany, a world leader in plastics processing machinery will demonstrate the efficiency of their all-electric EX Injection Moulding machines, by manufacturing sterile medical goods at Interplastica 2012 in Moscow from the 24^th -27^th January.

An all-electric EX 160 -750 ‘CleanForm’ system will produce ‘twist-off’ bodies made of polypropylene in a 24 cavity mould. The EX machines are designed specifically for complex mouldings and offer maximum dynamics and precision. They have precise platen control and coupled with the metering accuracy of the all-electric plasticizing unit, the mold cavities can be filled precisely without overfeeding which prevents flash, which is an issue in the mass production of medical goods, given the high cavitations and corresponding shot weights.

“We offer customers excellent value through our CleanForm GMP solution” said Hans Malinowski – Product Manager for all-electric machines at Krauss Maffei. “Production costs can be reduced by up to 25% by transferring the produced part to sterile packaging directly after de-moulding, eliminating the need for subsequent sterilization”.

The EX CleanForm systems have the unique feature of excellent accessibility of all machine areas for obligatory cleaning cycles. A closed oil lubrication system supplies the pivot points of the Z toggles and prevents lubricants from leaking.

The production cell is virtually without particle or thermal emissions and potential sources of impurity are eliminated as there are fewer pivot points which are completely encapsulated and tie-bars are no longer required as guides for the moving platen.
