Koziol chooses Krauss Maffei for designer products plastics manufacture

Krauss Maffei of Munich Germany, a world leader in plastics machinery have recently installed

eleven injection moulding machines for Koziol  –  one of Germany’s oldest plastics processors, who manufacture and export globally  innovative & functional designer items for the home with their line ‘Koziol your life’. They also manufacture a range of products for interior designers, trade show outfitters and decorators known as ‘Koziol incentives’

The Krauss Maffei CX range is an innovative two-platen clamp design , with a clamp tonnage range from 35 to 650 tonnes. Of the 11 injection moulding machines installed at Koziol– four were CX 160-750 and seven were CX 110-750. Each of the machines were fitted with a magnetic mould fixing system, integrated LRX 100 linear robot, PC covers and conveyor belts to create complete manufacturing cells.

Koziol Plant Manager Andreas Creutz said: ‘We decided to fit all eleven machines with same - dimension injection units. As a result, we can install injection screws between 30 and 55 mm diameter in any of the machines.

This enables us to tailor the machine exactly to the processing requirements of the different resins we use to produce our designer products and the flexibility to move to 2 component moulding in the future”.

The machines were installed in the new Koziol Erbach factory which is equipped with glass viewing windows and platforms for visitors, a visitor restaurant, a design retail outlet and a museum which documents the 80 year history of the company.

With 70% of sales exported to 50 countries, the success of Koziol refutes the frequently expressed opinion that plastic consumer products will only be successful on world markets if they’re made in low-wage countries.
