Krauss
Maffei Extrusion exhibits at NPE 2009 in Chicago |
|
Krauss-Maffei GmbH
Extrusion of Munich Germany, will be exhibiting and
demonstrating a number of machines at NPE 2009 – The
International Plastics Show, held in Chicago USA from June 22 –
26. Krauss Maffei will be on booth S36000, near the entrance to
the south hall. |

The machinery on display at NPE 2009 includes:-
-
The ZE 60 R-UTX twin-screw extruder, which is designed for the
processing of natural fibres without energy-intensive preliminary
drying. The R version provides large free volume and high torques
and is suited for processing compounds with high nature fibre
content at maximum output speeds.
The UTX series excels in low shear energy input, excellent mixing
performance, frequent melt surface renewal and low gas speed for
efficient vacuum degassing. The configuration of the screws and
processing sections allow the extruder design to be adapted for
different fibre types, moisture contents (up to 12%) and fibre
percentages (20% to 70% max). Suitable for processing wood flour,
wood fibres, cellulose, flax and hemp.
-
Unique in-line colour measuring system - provides in-line quality
control based on melt colour measurements at the discharge from the
die. This helps to avoid detrimental reflections normally caused by
colour measurements carried out on pellets. The spectrometer is
designed for monitoring the compound quality during colour changes
and reduces start-up scrap. It also detects immediately any defects
in material metering or pigment premixing.
With transparent melts like PET, PC and PS, a transmission polymer
melt probe ensures close colour tolerances, while a reflection
polymer melt probe is used with colour concentrates.
