GEC MINI™ Wheel Extrusion Blow Moulder was unveiled at K2007

Graham Engineering Corporation of York, PA, USA introduced their new MINI Wheel Compact Blow Moulding System at the K-Show in Dusseldorf in October 2007.

The MINI™ Wheel, which is small enough to ship in a standard freight container, represents a breakthrough for smaller moulders looking to dramatically increase their throughput.

The system combines continuous, rotary motion, upward extrusion, and bottom takeout.  The MINI™ Wheel was designed specifically to produce co-extruded plastic containers in high growth areas such as flavoured milk, organic drinks, coffees, teas, nutraceuticals, yoghurts, probiotics, packaged fruit, smoothies, fruit juices, drinks with fruit pieces, specialty milks as well as sauces, jellies and other oxygen-sensitive food products which require packaging in barrier plastics.

Advantages of the MINI™ Wheel System include:

  • single flow-head
  • constant parison length
  • bottle to bottle weight consistency
  • light weight capability
  • layer thickness distribution is easily controlled
  • more energy efficient than shuttle machines
  • lightweight moulds for manual operator handling
  • fast changeover times
  • co-extrusion configurations available up to 6 layers
