Higher outputs for Dairy bottle production with ‘Shot-Pot’ technology

Graham Engineering Corporation (GEC) of York, PA, USA has recently released shot-pot technology which delivers further benefits in the cost competitive market sector of lightweight dairy (milk) bottle manufacturing.

The enhanced Shot-Pot (SPM) range of extrusion blow moulders are capable of producing  5200 HDPE 2 Litre dairy bottles per hour when supplied in a 10 cavity configuration.  SPM machines are available in 6, 8, 10 and 12 cavity configurations.

Featuring a continuous 120mm diameter, 28:1 L/D extruder with screen changer and a high speed (1,000 gm/sec) shot pot controlled by a 100 point parison controller, exceptionally tight control is maintained over bottle weight and material distribution.

Three point die head adjustments are accomplished from the front of the machine for operator ease, while hydraulic ram-down pre-finish and blow pin adjusters equipped with GEC’s tool-less adjustment feature ensure excellent neck finish calibration

Handling of containers is accomplished by a double swing take-out arm whilst trimming is now managed with a four platen triple index low impact trimmer featuring an extra floating platen.

The extruder drive is by the Knodler gear-motor technology further reducing the previous compact footprint and remote dial-in diagnostics and monitoring are some of the many features of the GEC Windows®  based XBM Navigator™ PC control.

These new machine features have contributed to higher outputs, lighter weight and higher quality containers coupled with lower energy consumption and reduced machine maintenance.

G.E.C., with over 50 year’s industry experience and with 3000 plus machines installed globally are a leading global supplier of complete line of monolayer and multilayer Extrusion Blow Moulding machines for Beverage, Food & Industrial containers together with Technical & Automotive & Leisure products.
