Graham Engineering Blow Moulders chosen by large pool equipment manufacturer

The blow moulding machine is being used to mould various sized filter tanks at the Clemmons plant in North Carolina. The machine has 140 tons of clamping force and an independent servo platen control. Included is a 200mm bore grooved extruder with a 23Kg shot head.

Hayward Pool Products Inc, have been manufacturing cutting edge pool equipment for over 80 years and are a recognised brand worldwide. Their products include a complete line of pumps, filters, heaters, heat pumps, automatic pool cleaners, lighting, controls and salt chlorine generators.

Hayward’s decided to invest in GEC colour-change technology, as they changed from pellet concentrates to liquid colours on their large blow moulding machinery.  “The fast colour change capability of the Graham machine was a key selling point” said Scott Pugh, Hayward’s Manufacturing Manager. “The company offers pool filters in multiple colours. Moving to liquid colours, and upgrading with the new GEC blow moulding machine has helped us make faster colour changes and practice lean manufacturing principles”.

The GEC accumulator head, allows for colour changes in as little as 1 hour, compared to our other machines that take 8 -12 hours. This is due to the advanced overlapping spiral-diverter designed accumulator head. During the Hayward machine acceptance, they were able to demonstrate both white to black (complete colour change in 6 shots) and black to platinum (30 shots) colour changes.
