Krauss Maffei Extrusion of Munich Germany, a world leader in plastics
machinery,
have received an order for what they believe is a ‘World first’
extrusion line solution to Iranian P.E.S. Co, that will be used to
produce extra-large, smooth-walled High density Polyethylene pipe with
diameters up to 2.4M, a diameter that is pushing the limits in direct
pipe extrusion.
The new line headed by a KME 150-36 B/R single screw extruder and a KM-RKW
40-2400 pipehead, will produce pipes with diameters of up to 2400mm,
with an hourly output of 1700kg using
high
melt strength polyethylene (PE) XLS12B from Total Petrochemicals. The
pipe wall thickness, outer diameter and ovality are kept to very tight
tolerance levels, which delivers substantial material savings,
especially in the production of large pipes. In addition, when the pipes
are laid, the sections will fit exactly together allowing for high
quality welds.
P.E.S. has been a satisfied customer of Krauss Maffei for many years,
producing HDPE pipe with a diameter up to 1600mm on single screw
extruders. The extra large pipes being produced by P.E.S, are to be used
primarily to supply seawater to desalination plants and cooling water to
oil refineries.
P.E.S. Managing Director and owner Mr. Mohsen Jamalian said “We’re
setting a new milestone in the world of large scale pipe extrusion.
Thanks to Krauss Maffei Berstorff and its leading technology – we can
transfer the expertise we’ve accumulated with our 1600mm extrusion lines
to the challenge of producing 2400mm pipe.“ |
